Florida Solar Energy Center Seeks Funds For New Auditorium
When the Florida Solar Energy Center moved to
its new facility on the campus of the University of Central Florida, included
in the plans was a state-of-the-art educational/meeting facility. A generous
gift from the late H. George Carrison and matching funds from the State
of Florida (U.S.A.) provided the financial resources to make the much-needed
auditorium a reality.
Although Mr. Carrisons gift and the state
funds provided enough to let the FSEC build the auditorium, the Center is
still about $20,000 short of putting in all the modern equipment and materials
needed to use the latest computer-assisted educational and presentation
tools. To showcase the work of FSEC researchers and allow them to use the
latest technology, they still need some computer equipment and audiovisual
tools, including a data-video projector, sound system, laser disk player,
and control system.
In order to raise the needed funds, the FSEC
is selling the seats in the auditorium. For a tax-deductible
gift of $150, the FSEC will put your name (or a name you wish to honor)
on a gold plaque on the back of one of the chairs in the auditorium as a
permanent record of your support.
There are only 150 seats in the auditorium,
so if youre interested in helping, contact Dr. David L. Block, Director,
