DOE Annual Peer Review Scheduled

The U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy has announced its Annual Peer Review for its hydrogen research and development program. Hosted by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, the review will be held April 29 to May 3, 1996, at the Biscayne Bay Marriott Hotel and Marina in Miami, Florida, U.S.A.

DOE’s hydrogen program funds core R&D in hydrogen production, storage, transport, and utilization to develop safe, practical, and economically competitive hydrogen systems. These activities represent a diverse portfolio of near-, mid-, and long-term hydrogen energy technologies to minimize risks associated with advanced energy systems, transition hydrogen into niche markets using the existing fossil infrastructure, and meet future energy demands with hydrogen from sustainable, renewable sources.

The annual program review meeting begins an interactive review and planning cycle designed to strengthen and accelerate R&D; activities. Experts will evaluate the technical progress, approach, rationale, and technology transfer efforts of the projects funded by the DOE hydrogen program and provide comments and recommendations to the managers of the program.

This year’s review features a general session to present program-related information, such as the status of pending legislation, current outreach activities, and an overview of funded projects. Concurrent review sessions will cover more than 45 new and continuing hydrogen-related projects.
