Hydrogen Documentary to be Distributed Worldwide
Hydrogen 2000 (Studio City, California, U.S.A.)
announced in October that agreements for worldwide television broadcast
and home videocassette sales had been reached for the Element One
documentary on hydrogen. This is a new version of the video which premiered
at the World Hydrogen Energy Conference (WHEC11) held in Stuttgart, Germany,
in June. ”We believe these steps will assure that Element One
will be seen by millions of people in countries all around the world,”
said Geoffrey Holland, Managing Director of Hydrogen 2000, following the
announcement.
Shot in the United States, Canada, Europe, and
Japan, Element One reports on the exciting promise of hydrogen as
a clean, safe, and inexhaustible energy carrier. More than 40 scientists,
government officials, and energy experts appear in the video which showcases
the latest in hydrogen related technologies.
The new, just-completed version of the video,
at 56 minutes in length, meets the broadcast requirements of the majority
of PBS television stations in the United States as well as broadcast outlets
in many other parts of the world. “We weren’t able to do justice
to the first version of Element One that aired at the World meeting
in Stuttgart this past June. We had to have it ready and just ran out of
time,” said Holland. The new version completed in mid-October is nearly
five minutes shorter than the original. “The response to the original
version shown in Stuttgart was very positive. A number of suggestions for
improvement came out of those early screenings. We incorporated many of
those ideas into this final version.”
“Our goal was to create a film that would
serve the hydrogen community as a powerful tool for building public awareness,”
said Hydrogen 2000 President Bill Hoagland. “What hydrogen needs now
more than anything is a constituency, not just with the general public but
with elected officials, corporate leaders, and educators,” he said.
“We need people to get excited about hydrogen. With this final version,
I believe we have a film that will do that very effectively.”
